"Angus recently played host to a barbeque for the various Eastern
European students who help to make the region one of the most
productive berry growing areas.
Organised by Colliston Parish Church the event included activities
for the students including a football tournament and musical
entertainment to help the day along.
The students who are in Britain, mostly to earn money during the
busy Scottish season can be found working as berry pickers at
farms in the region including the Well Pict Scotland farm in
nearby Arbroath.
The objective of the afternoon was to show some good local
hospitality and appreciation for their efforts in helping to
ensure world class Scottish berries are available to buy
throughout Britain.
Organiser George Mathieson said "They are very hard working and
don't create any bother in the village."
